Multiflight flies 130 Norwegian Leeds United fans in for Aston Villa match on special charter flight
Multiflight has flown 130 Norwegian Leeds United fans to Leeds for the Aston Villa match tomorrow, Sunday.
The fans flew into Leeds from Kristiansand Airport yesterday, Friday. Leeds United club badges were draped over each seat on the plane, arranged by Multiflight who organised the special charter flight.
Multiflight has organised the return flight on Monday.
The Norwegian fans certainly made their presence known on arrival at Leeds and were in buoyant spirits ahead of the crucial promotion clash.
“Multiflight was delighted to organise the special charter flight for the Norwegian fans; it was great to see them in such great spirits when they arrived at Leeds and to hear how much they had enjoyed the flight,” said Multiflight Director Miles Beecham.
Multiflight is the Official Flight Partner of Leeds United and is proud to be affiliated with the club and to provide travel for players, management, associates, supporters and families.
Screens in the airport showed ‘MOT1919’ as the flight number. MOT of course refers to ‘Marching on Together’, the Leeds United anthem, while 1919 is the official year of the club being established.
Organiser Kurt Stian Mykstu said the fans wanted to take more than a recent Norwegian flight to Liverpool to “prove Leeds is the bigger club”.
He said: “We organised this to celebrate Leeds United’s 100 years. We also wanted to charter a bigger plane than Norwegian Liverpool supporters to show that Leeds is a bigger club.
“It’s the first time doing this! Multiflight did a great job and the flight was perfect.”
Leeds United match against Aston Villa tomorrow is a crucial promotion clash following a couple of disappointing results in games against Wigan and Brentford.
Depending on results today (Saturday), Leeds United may already be unable to snatch automatic promotion by the time the game kicks off.
Come on Leeds!
