Finance Director appointment

Multiflight has announced the appointment of Miles Beecham to its Board of Directors as Finance Director.

Miles, 32, who started his career with Birmingham accountancy firm PKF working in audit and then as a corporate tax specialist, has been Multiflight’s Financial Controller and Company Secretary since 2002. He joins the Company’s two other Directors: Multiflight founder and Chairman David Hood – the technology entrepreneur who founded Shipley-based Pace Micro Technology, and Managing Director Steve Borrowdale, on the Multiflight Board.

Commenting on his promotion, Miles, of Boroughbridge, North Yorkshire, said: “I joined Multiflight because I saw great potential with the Company and considered aviation an exciting industry to work in and both have proved to be true. We have achieved a significant amount and Multiflight is now one of the finest facilities of its kind in the UK.”

During Miles’ time at Multiflight he has been closely involved with the Company’s development and expansion. The site has undergone a multi-million pound refurbishment, including the fixed based operations (FBO), the Flight Training Centre and the Café Bar.

“There are plans to further develop the site and other projects in the pipeline, so it’s a great time to be involved with the Company,” said Miles.

Multiflight flies high in European survey

Multiflight is celebrating after being voted one of Europe's leading fixed based operations and 4th in the UK.

Multiflight has been named as the 17th overall fixed based operation in Europe (4th in the UK) out of hundreds of facilities and many of them far larger than Multiflight.

The title was awarded after qualified aircraft operating readers of European Business Air News (EBAN) voted on the specialist business aviation handlers of Europe.

Heather Cawthorne, Multiflight's Handling Manager, said: “We are delighted to be named one of Europe's leading operations and to be the 4th fixed based operation in the UK. It reflects the high standards we set in terms of both facilities and services—we always aim to satisfy clients' needs and will go that extra mile for them whatever their requirements may be.

“We aim to please and our growing traffic numbers are an indication that our clients value the quality of service we provide. Private travel continues to increase in popularity as people recognise just how time and cost–effective it can be.”

She added: “The refurbishment of Multiflight's Café Bar allows us to offer tasty, bespoke culinary treats for our clients and ensure that any special dietary needs are met.”

The transformation of the Café Bar is part of a larger refurbishment scheme being carried out by Multiflight across its facilities. The FBO facilities were refurbished, followed by the Café Bar and the Flight Training Centre. The multi–million pound investment by Multiflight and Leeds Bradford International Airport has totally transformed the South Side of the airport and created one of the finest facilities of its kind in the country.

Services provided by Multiflight include: aircraft sales and purchase; plane and helicopter charter; trial flying lessons; complete commercial pilot courses to fly as a professional; private aircraft hangarage, service and repair.

Jon looks for maiden Formula 3 win

Jon Lancaster, the 18–year–old racing driver from Calverley, Leeds, who Multiflight is sponsoring, is intent on making an impression in his first season in Formula 3.

Jon's new suit

Jon, who celebrated a magnificent run of race wins in last year's Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 series and a second place on the championship podium, is eagerly waiting to climb into his ART Formula 3 car. His racing suit, complete with Multiflight logo, is ready and he is chomping at the bit to get started and compete for his maiden Formula 3 win.

“It will be a very difficult season with many second and third year drivers (in Formula 3), but I know that being with the right team is the way forward for me,” said Jon.

“ART has been renamed from ASM, who will give me the best opportunity to compete for race wins! If we can get to the podium quicker than last year then I believe we can have a shout for the title.”

Go Jon!

Delight at 40th birthday charter flight

When Nick Hudson wanted to give his wife Mal a surprise 40th birthday get–away treat he turned to Multiflight to ensure it was extra special.

So pleased were Nick and Mal with the surprise birthday helicopter charter flight that Nick contacted Multiflight to say a big personal thank you.

Nick had booked a few days away for his wife and himself and wanted to incorporate a helicopter flight, although the logistics of where they were staying made it a little difficult. With a bit of work, however, Multiflight came up with the perfect solution of a chauffeur–driven car to a fabulous location for lunch and then the unexpected arrival of a helicopter to whisk Nick and Mal away.

“When there were problems with landing and collecting us from the hotel the birthday surprise just became better and better when you found and booked us in for lunch at a very special location,” said Nick.

“After lunch I popped off and told Mal I was calling a cab and returned telling her I had arranged a “lift”. She was gob–smacked to find the cab driver to be a pilot!”

Nick added: “Chris the pilot was great and ensured we got the most from our adventure. We had a brilliant, memorable time. It is something I would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to do something extra special and Multiflight is the company to call.”

See the charter section on the Multiflight website for details of more delighted clients.
