The JAA PPL requires a minimum of 45 hours flying training and allows the licence holder to fly in most European States and many other countries.
The Joint Aviation Authority Private Pilot's Licence JAA PPL allows the licence holder to carry passengers in visual conditions during daylight hours. A JAA Class 2 medical certificate is required for solo flight. JAA PPL holders can build on the basic PPL privileges by attaching additional ratings to their licences: Night rating, Instrument Meteorological Condition Rating (IMC), Multi-engine Piston Rating (MEP) and PPL Instrument Rating (PPL/IR) – full details of these can be found under PPL Ratings.
