Private Pilot's Licence

In order to fly light aeroplanes it is necessary to obtain a Private Pilot's Licence (PPL). This entails undergoing a course of flight training, passing comparatively simple written exams and passing a flight skill test. There are two different types of PPL available: The National Private Pilot's Licence (NPPL) and the Joint Aviation Authority Private Pilot's Licence (JAA PPL). The NPPL requires a minimum of 32 hours flying training and allows the licence holder to fly only within UK airspace. The JAA PPL requires a minimum of 45 hours flying training and allows the licence holder to fly in most European States and many other countries.

At the Multiflight Flight Training Centre we offer training courses for both these licences. Your training programme can be individually selected to suit your specific requirements. Although it is possible for an exceptional student to complete the course in the minimum hours quoted, most people have to fit their training around a busy lifestyle. There will be times when the pressure of work or bad weather cause gaps in training and the subsequent lesson becomes revision rather than advancement. Consequently most students will exceed the minimum hours required for licence issue.

PPL

Those embarking on an Ab Initio ATPL will complete their PPL in Naples, Florida.

Pre Flight Briefs

Multiflight provides 3 detailed compulsory briefs for all students on the following subjects:

  • Introduction to the PPL: For all new students this brief covers the PPL syllabus, as well as pre and post flight actions.
  • Circuits: Details the circuit procedures, airmanship and emergency procedures. All students must attend before first circuit lesson.
  • Navigation: Gives an understanding of how to plan and fly a navigation route. Introduces the Navigation computer and how to calculate and apply drift, speed and time correction.

Each brief costs £30 and is approximately two hours in duration. Please see the booking sheets in the flying school to enrol.
