Instrument Rating
Instrument Rating training at Multiflight.
You can undertake Instrument Rating training here at Multiflight Flight Training Centre at Leeds Bradford International Airport, Leeds, West Yorkshire, UK.
The Instrument Rating (IR) training allows you to pilot your aircraft in instrument conditions and some of the busiest airspace in the world – therefore as you would expect this is one of the most demanding ratings. Your instrument rating training course at our Leeds flight school will encompass flights purely on instruments, departures, approaches and flights within the ‘motorway’ structure of the sky.
In order to gain your IR you will need to pass nine theoretical examinations and undergo either 50 hours training (if you hold a Commercial Pilot’s Licence (CPL)) or 55 hours training (if you don’t hold a CPL), you will also need to hold a Class 1 Medical. If you have already undertaken your Air Transport Pilot examinations (ATPL) you do not need to retake the theoretical examinations.
The theoretical examinations consist of:
- Air Law/Operational Procedures
- Aircraft General Knowledge
- Flight Performance & Planning
- Human Performance & Limitations
- Meteorology
- Navigation
- Communications (IFR)
On completion of your training you would then need to take and pass the flight test with a CAA examiner.
The Instrument Rating (IR) is valid for 12 months and is renewed with a flight test with a registered examiner. If you renewed your licence in the simulator one year you will need to renew in the aircraft the next year and visa versa.
If you want to take your Instrument Rating, Multiflight offers a first class instrument rating course. For UK instrument rating training there is no better flight training school.
