Commercial Pilot's Licence Multi
The Commercial Pilot's Licence Multi (CPL/ME) allows you to combine the Commercial Pilot's Licence with the Multi Engine rating, allowing a saving in both time and cost. Once achieved you will hold the same privileges as a single engine CPL holder, however you will also be able to fly a higher performance, multi-engine aeroplane. The majority of training providers conduct their IR training in a multi-engine aircraft and therefore this allows a quick progression onto the IR.
The entry requirements for the CPL/ME are identical to the standalone CPL.
There is a slight difference in the hourly requirements for the CPL/ME in that the training consists of 20 hours training on a simple engine aircraft and eight hours training on a twin Duchess BE76.
The CPL/ME flight test is combined and taken in one test with a CAA examiner and is valid for one year. The licence may be renewed with an annual flight test.
The theoretical examinations consist of:
- Air Law
- Navigation
- Aircraft General Knowledge
- Operational Procedures
- Flight Performance and Planning
- Principles of Flight
- Human Performance and Limitations
- Communications (VFR)
- Meteorology
- In-house Multi Engine Exam
The flight training consists of:
- 20 Hours training on a simple single engine.
- 8 Hours training on a complex twin engine.
On completion of your training you would then need to take and pass the flight test with a CAA examiner.
The CPL/ME is valid for 1 year and is renewed by successfully completing a flight test.
