Flyby to mark Leeds Bradford International Airport’s 80th anniversary
October 17, 2011
There’s much anticipation here at Multiflight as we wait to see a flyby to mark the 80th anniversary of Leeds Bradford International Airport. Two F-16 Fighter Planes are to fly over the airport at 12 noon today to mark the anniversary and to honour the 609 Squadron. The planes will fly over three times.
At 1pm a C17 aircraft will do multiple approaches.
Later on in the week, it is hoped there will be a flyby from a magnificent Lancaster Bomber.
Today also sees the opening of the 80th Anniversary Photographic Exhibition together with the launch of a brand new book “Yeadon Above The Rest”.
Multiflight has loaned an historic propeller to the airport for this exhibition. The propeller is from the plane that made the first scheduled flight from Leeds to London. The mahogany and brass propeller has been restored by Dave Steele from Multiflight.
